It's very warm here, kids...especially for November 15th.   We are not used to it.  Two nights ago, it was actually cold...in the low 40's during the evening and overnight.  We had to wear sweatshirts when we got up in the  morning.  Of course, it didn't take long for the sun to warm it up.   Yesterday it was in the 80's and today is about the same.  But we are not complaining...oh no, we are not.

RH (retired husband) got the car washed, washed the dirty...very dirty...windows on the RV and now is trying to install some new shades we purchased for the main room.  We got them from JCPenney's.  They were originally $60 each and we paid $15 each plus shipping.  They were just delivered by UPS this morning.  Unfortunately RH is having a hard time getting them installed....probably another trip to get some screws or something else he already has at home in Indiana!  But the shades will look great when he has completed the job.  Photos will follow.

Speaking of photos, here are some of the outside of our place.

Avon Park-1

This is how it looked when we first saw it...and purchased it last April.

Unit-2

This is how it looked after RH cleaned up the yard and the weeds last April.

11-13-2011-1

This is how it looks with the flagpole and plants we just put in.

Since our "to do" list has gotten checked out and we are still working on some sort of schedule...I had time to read a couple of books that I brought with me.

Somewhere along the way, I have received several paperbacks by Carla Neggers. This is the first one that I have read.  It was an interesting read. It has a predictable theme. You know it will all work out in the end. You know there is a mystery to be figured out. You know there will be a romance. But....it held my attention and I enjoyed it.

Here's an overview of the story.

"Three years after the sudden death of her husband, Lucy Blacker Swift has finally got things under control. Leaving behind the cutthroat world of Washington, Lucy and her two children move to a Vermont farmhouse and start to rebuild their lives.  But a string of unexplained events--late-night hang-ups, a bullet through a window--threatens her new life.  Unwilling to turn to her powerful father-in-law, Senator Jack Swift, Lucy tracks down Sebastian Redwing, an international security expert her late husband asked her to contact if she ever needed help.   Sebastian, though, wants nothing to do with her problems...or with a woman he's been half in love with since her wedding day.  But Sebastian knows he has no choice, and reluctantly he becomes drawn with Lucy into a dangerous tangle of blackmail, vengeance and betrayal, with Lucy's powerful family--and Sebastian's troubled past--smack in the middle."

This book is one that you will want to read straight through. A young couple who are expecting their first child in a few weeks are thrown into a mysterious disappearance of a woman they used to know from high school. She showed up at their garage sale, went into their house and was not seen again.  Everything seems to point to their involvement with her disappearance. Their lives are being turned upside-down.  It isn't the best mystery I've read but it is worthy of spending an afternoon indulging  yourself.

Here's a description..." Ivy and David Rose, happily married high school sweethearts, are trying to clear out the junk the previous owner left in their glorious Victorian in Brush Hills, Mass., before the birth of their first child. Among the bargain hunters is Melinda White, a high school classmate who's also pregnant. Considered an oddball in school, Melinda worries about more bad luck after nearly knocking over a large mirror. When Melinda disappears and no one can remember seeing her leave the sale, the evidence suggests the couple murdered her. Ephron doesn't miss a searing beat as she plunges the Roses into an abyss of suspicion. A surprise toward the end provides the perfect twist to this deliciously creepy tale of obsession."

So, RH is having a tough time with the windowshade installation.  Time for me to leave the unit and let him cuss and swear to relieve his tension.

It's unusually warm here for mid-November. I'm in Quebec City, Canada. We usually have our winter coats out, boots, hats and mittens by now. Yesterday you could walk around without a jacket on!

In my kitchen awaits a book by Amy Ephron, Hallie's sister.  My kids have been reading books by their mother, Nora, since forever.  (How to Eat Like a Child, among others)

It must run in the family.

Your husband cursing trying to install shades made me laugh!  (sorry!)  I thought my hubby was the only one on earth who did that.  Sometimes I go out and comment real loud about whatever he is upset at or about so the neighbors don't think he's cursing at me.    Your place looks sooo nice!  Really looks homey.  What a fun place to spend the winter.  How far away from the ocean are you?

Your place looks cozy, I'd love to have a winter place like that! It's been warm here today, I'm comfy in a sweater, but I'm cold blooded anyway. Tomorrow 'spost to be colder for a bit.

The flag and the plants really add a homey touch.

The place looks adorable! Just curious...what was the large white boxy thing in front? Looks like you removed it, which was a nice improvement! Did you paint the trim? Looks good!

It has been warm this week, humidity has been up. Lots of folks down for the winter, our park pool is now packed every afternoon.

RH is doing a wonderful job - your place looks darling! 80 degrees in the daytime is well worth the trip from places northward! I would love it if I could travel the reverse direction in summer though. 120ยบ here daytime in June, July and August sucketh bigtime.

Good luck on getting the blinds installed. Those things are evil. Evil, I tell ya!
